I find hand laying track to be both soothing and satisfying.

I'm not planning on modelling any specific prototype but I'd like to do something freelance prototypically.

I've done some hand laid track for On30 which is pretty close to Sn42/Sn3.5/Sm.

I'm looking for some information on track standards that you may suggest for modern present day 42-inch gauge track.

I am wondering what size railcode (70 or 83) you are using and what you would recommend for modelling modern, present day track.

Same thing for the ties. What scale size ties are you using? 5" x 7" x 6 1/2' perhaps? Or full sized 7" x 9" x 8'?

Lastly, the tie spacing. I'm used to On30 using scale 24"OC tie spacing. What tie spacing do you suggest for Sn42?

Thanks

--
Happy Railroadin'
The Tin Goat
Ron Wm.
